Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS)
Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is a multi-layered, exterior wall finish system that is lightweight and high insulated wall cladding that give designers an unrivaled range of aesthetic and performance options such as the addition of cornices, trims, keystones, sills, bands, columns, quoins and pilasters.
EIFS is used on a wide range of commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. The smooth outer surface of an EIFS, combined with decorative finishes available in thousands of colors and textures, provide a design palette unmatched by any other wall cladding system. EIFS are cost-effective, and they can bring style and beauty to everyday structures.
EIFS literally wraps the exterior of the building in a thermal blanket that will reduce air infiltration which leads to reduced energy consumption. EIFS can be applied over steel stud walls, wood frame construction, or masonry. EIFS can also be used to refinish existing buildings to create a refreshed appearance and an upgraded insulation value.
For design professionals, it is important to know that EIFS systems can be configured in many ways. Decisions made in the design stage impact the appearance, properties, and
long-term performance of EIFS claddings. There are unlimited exterior architectural elements that can be achieved by utilizing a virtual limitless combination of standard EPS moldings, custom shapes, textures and colors that can be used to enhance the finished appearance of you project. Most EIFS finish coats are formulated with acrylic binders which gives the EIFS system superior resistance to fading, chalking and yellowing which reduces maintenance issues and repair costs.
